Aligning Efforts: Collaborative Opportunities to Advance Future Generations Policy

The second meeting of the re-established Parliamentary Group for Future Generations will focus on sustaining momentum and translating insights from September’s dialogue into concrete action. 

This meeting will provide an opportunity to:

  • Reflect on progress and shifts since September, including lessons from state and territory leadership and civil society initiatives.

  • Explore the potential reintroduction and/or redrafting of the Wellbeing of Future Generations Bill, alongside other parliamentary pathways to embed long-term thinking.

  • Discuss the different tracks of action available in the coming months, spanning political leadership, civil society advocacy and public service priorities.

Key priorities include:

  • Reviewing mobilisation efforts since September and identifying areas requiring further alignment and acceleration.

  • Deep-diving into lessons from states and territories advancing future generations policy to inform federal action.

  • Fostering strategic dialogue around the pathways to embed long-term governance reforms, including legislative and non-legislative options.

  • Engaging external expertise to illuminate opportunities and challenges in shaping intergenerational policy and practice.
