The Australian Parliamentary Group for Future Generations is a collective of more than 20 Senators and Members of the Australian Parliament who are committed to securing Australia’s long-term prosperity.

The Intergenerational Fairness Coalition is a collective of organisations committed to working together to see increased long-term thinking in Australian policymaking. Foundations for Tomorrow is a founding member and the 2024 Chair of the coalition.

The Future Generations Leadership Accelerator and the Future Generations Policy Leader Toolkit, designed in partnership with the Office of the Future Generations Commissioner for Wales, equips existing and emerging leaders with critical skills for future generations leadership and policy design.

Our commitment extends beyond Australian borders, recognising that the future we endeavour to protect is interconnected with the global community. Foundations for Tomorrow is part of a larger, worldwide movement aimed at creating sustainable, long-term solutions for the world.

Foundations for Tomorrow’s flagship project - the Awareness to Action Consultation - drew together more than 10,000 responses from young Australians to share with you a youth-led proposal for a more just, equitable and sustainable Australian future.

The need for intergenerational policymaking has never been greater. Australians are increasingly concerned about whether government decision-making accounts for the long-term challenges facing future generations. This research engaged 1,000 Australians to capture public attitudes on intergenerational policymaking and sought to understand how much Australian voters care about long-term policymaking.

This Policy Brief is the culmination of almost four years of robust research to define a path forward for future generations policy in Australia. It outlines the urgent need for a comprehensive shift in Australia’s approach to policy and decision-making and provides an in-depth exploration of policies that will secure a sustainable, fair, and prosperous future for all Australians.

Portraits of Our Future bridges the gap between complex policy discussions and the lived experiences of Australians. This initiative shows how decisions made today shape lives for generations to come, making the future tangible, actionable, and deeply personal.

In collaboration with the Unlock the Future coalition and Orygen, Foundations for Tomorrow hosted an Intergenerational Town Hall, bringing together voices from grassroots advocates to high-level policymakers to craft a vision for the year 2100.

The Foundations for Tomorrow podcast, What's In It For You, is here to shake things up, re-thinking how politics can be done to create a more fair, sustainable, and equitable future for all generations of Australians.

Championed by Independent MP Dr. Sophie Scamps and seconded by Mrs. Bridget Archer MP, the Bill is the product of 4 years of concentrated advocacy from Foundations for Tomorrow and the broader Intergenerational Fairness Coalition.

While the Wellbeing of Future Generations Bill is advancing a national agenda, our work in key states and territories is laying the groundwork for long-term systemic change.

Launched in February 2025, the For Our Future campaign empowers Australians to "Ask for the Bill," driving awareness and mobilising support for the Wellbeing of Future Generations Bill (2025).
